I am a Traditional-Contemporary interior designer, who loves to add a flare of creativity and colour to my projects. My passion for design flows from my love of architecture and how interiors can really highlight the beauty in a space. 

Originally from London, I spent a lot of my summers growing up, visiting the Suffolk coast, particularly the small charismatic fishing villages which are steeped in history and backdropped by the natural beauty of the British countryside. A place I now draw much of my inspiration from. My love of this nature and the traditionalist beauty of the local architecture, is something that formed the basis of my personal style, Traditional-Contemporary, with a focus on creating and preserving the timeless classical elements of traditional design, whilst incorporating the clean practicalities of a more modern contemporary style. 

I started out in Interior Design after moving away, into my first flat in London, a real blank canvas and huge project… as they always are! Applying my lone intuition and months of research into styles, fabrics, furniture etc I realised I’d fallen in love with the process of turning a blank space into a home. It was this love that pushed me onward to the National design Academy and now to form Emma Gilbert Design. 

I’ve now been fortunate enough to create many different and varied looks. My designs often feature artisanal and handmade pieces alongside rustic antiquities, blending aesthetic appeal with practical functionality for stylish living. I believe in a close collaborative approach with my clients and work hard to understand their practical needs, mixing this with the styles and ideas they love, to create a truly personal space that inspires that real ‘wow’ impression.
